Prince Albert II of Monaco has opened a luxury district reclaimed from the Mediterranean Sea for his principality: For the controversial Mareterra project, six hectares of land were reclaimed off the coast of the microstate and developed with five skyscrapers and ten villas. Environmental organizations had criticized that the construction, reaching up to 50 meters deep into the sea, would destroy habitat for animals.
