National Guardsmen in critical condition after being shot by Afghan national outside White House
Two National Guardsmen, one male and the other female, were shot by 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal in a targeted attack near the White House in Washington, DC on November 26. Both victims and Lakanwal have been hospitalized. Lakanwal came to the US in 2021, applied for asylum in the US in 2024, and in 2025 he was granted asylum by the Trump administration.
