Meet David Mayman, the Australian jetpack pilot and manufacturer!
When he was 12, David Mayman dreamt of flying and attempted to build a helicopter using fence posts and an old lawnmower.
His experiment was unsuccessful, but after years of work, things have changed!
He is now the inventor, pilot, and, finally, the manufacturer of a jetpack, in other words, a rocket belt.
In 2015, Mayman achieved his first flight around the Statue of Liberty using a jetpack of his design. Mayman's other aerial appearances include Sydney and Dubai.
With the company he founded in 2016, Jetpack Aviation, Mayman helps other people who want to fly to fulfil their dreams. But Mayman's aviation adventures do not end there.
The Speeder
Applying his jetpack design expertise, Mayman is experimenting with a new machine, the Speeder, which resembles a flying motorbike.
The Speeder, which travels straight up in the air like a motorbike, is also small enough to fit in the back of a pickup truck.

Mayman is one of many people working on flying machines. Engineers around the world have developed hundreds of aircraft projects.

The military wanted a vehicle that could carry a payload, move quickly, and allow its users to learn quickly.
Liquid jet fuel stores 20 times more energy than batteries, and jet engines are much easier to control the flight angle. So, the Speeder will be a vehicle that can carry a certain weight and move quickly simultaneously.
