Pro-independence candidate Lai wins presidential election in Taiwan

Vice President and pro-independence candidate Lai Ching-te has won the presidential election in Taiwan. The 64-year-old politician from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) received just over 40 percent of the vote.
