The 3rd stage of the Mediterranean Epic 2024, covering 105km, was the longest of the stage race and led back to Oropesa del Mar. The route featured some fast, hilly sections combined with technical trail passages. In the men's race, the current leader of the classification, Wout Alleman, demonstrates his intention to defend his position and leads the lead group for large parts of the race. In the final section, four riders - Wout Alleman, Lukas Baum, Simon Stiebjahn, and Marc Stutzmann - remain at the front. Simon Stiebjan (GER) emerges as the fastest in the final sprint and secures a world-class victory. Lukas Baum (GER) and Wout Alleman (BEL) complete the podium. In the general classification, Wout Alleman extends his lead over Georg Egger to 3:06 minutes, with Stutzmann finishing third with 3:13 minutes. The battle for the second place is still wide open. In the women's race, initially led by the American Hannah Otto, Rosa van Doorn (NED) catches up with her. A tough fight for the stage win and overall victory ensues. Otto manages to maintain the high pace until the finish line, claiming her first victory in Europe. Rosa van Doorn takes the overall lead with a 1:04 advantage over Otto. Janina Wüst finishes third and has to say goodbye to the leader's jersey for now.
