Ferrari 12Cilindri - Powertrain

The F140HD engine powering the Ferrari 12Cilindri is the new version of the iconic Ferrari V12 naturally aspirated engine, the purest expression of Ferrari's soul: its unmatched performance, powerful sound, and exclusivity make it the worthy heir of the legendary sport berlinettas that have written some of the most brilliant chapters in the brand's history. The engine can unleash up to 830 hp while its max rev has been increased to 9500 rpm by adopting innovative and ambitious solutions. The engine has been equipped with modified components and software, some of which have already been adopted on the special series 812 Competizione, allowing it to be at the top of its class in terms of performance. To enable the V12 to rev so high, the engineers worked to reduce the weight and inertia of the engine components by adopting titanium connecting rods, which provide a 40% reduction in rotating mass compared to steel with the same mechanical strength. A different aluminum alloy has been used for the pistons, making them lighter than in previous applications. The adoption of a 3% lighter balanced crankshaft has further reduced the weight.
