The interiors of the 296 Speciale follow Ferrari's philosophy in the latest generation of special versions. Compared to the 296 GTB, the interventions have focused on a limited number of elements and have aimed to lighten the car through the more extensive use of carbon fiber and Alcantara©. Simpler designs, along with the prevalent use of visible carbon fiber and aluminum, produce the overall effect of a more racing-oriented cockpit. A specific door panel has been designed for the 296 Speciale, a unique block in minimalist carbon fiber design. The handle is carved from a functional area that ends in a characteristic beveled surface. In material continuity with the rest of the panel, this area integrates the Hi-Fi system, whose woofers diffuse music through perforations in the carbon fiber. The visible fastenings harmonize well with the racing atmosphere in the cockpit. The tunnel is characterized by a structure entirely in carbon fiber into which the main body is inserted; it is a raised surface where the functional elements are concentrated, with the iconic gate that distinguishes the interiors of all recent vehicles of the Prancing Horse standing out. The inspiration for this element comes from the support turret of the gear lever of Ferrari sports cars from the past, where the volume was highlighted by a separate block. On the 296 Speciale, the theme has been reworked to create a modern and sporty object. The design and the skillful combination of the elements' structure of the tunnel allow to enhance precisely the gate area, making it the undisputed protagonist of the interiors.
